Prince of persia

Summary: Really fun platforming game with delightful characters and slightly janky and boring combat gameplay

i picked this game up again after a long time, i remember playing it when i was maybe 10 but i never played it further than the beginning.
I really happy i gave it another chance. Aesthetically it greatly stands out from other PoP games and i love the visual direction they went with for this game, The art, character design and music all fit together very well.
The game play was great as well. I love platforming games and on that front it didn't dissapoint, the acrobatic platforming style was charming and played very smoothly.
The combat sequences were one of this games weaker points, they were overall okay but the boss fight scenes were all pretty much the same, which got stale super quickly.
another thing i found really annoying was the parrying mechanic, which had a very short reaction time, so short that ive barely landed any succesfull parry's throughout the whole game. i think it probably would have played easier on console but since i'm playing on desktop, the reacharound to get to the selected parry button (which is randomised with every parry you have to perform) was really awkward for me.
The last platforming sequence, during the Ahrimad boss i also found poorly designed, since theres a part where the camera angle shifts while you have to run, except your running direction doesnt shift with the camera angle, making it super hard not to fall off or fall behind, which made me have to restart so many times it became annoying.

What i enjoyed most about this game was the character writing, which was definitely a stand out to me.
I found the banter between Elika and the 'Prince' very charming and despite not giving away anything about the 'Prince's backstory it painted an accurate picture of the person that he is.
The story was good aswell, although less compelling to me than the characters relationship dynamic, which was the real pulling point.
I did find it interesting that they decided not to write a happy ending, instead making you undo all the hard work you spent the entire game doing, just to bring elika back, when she purposely sacrificed herself to prison Ahriman.
maybe a this was an easy way to segue into the epilogue but seeing as the epilogue didnt have much of a better ending, with Elika leaving the 'Prince' behind to search for the Ahura im not sure why they chose to do this.
It made the story feel incomplete, so I wonder if Ubisoft plans on ever bringing this storyline back again for another installment.
I would love to see that happen, since i really enjoyed this game. it still plays very well and doesnt feel outdated so its not in need of a remake but i would love to see a continuation of the story.

Dragon age: Origins

★★★★★

Dragon age Origins was the frist DA game i played back in 2018 and its still my favourite to this day.
the dialogue and storylines are just very immersive and despite the janky gameplay at times and less than desirable graphic quality of the game i still had a blast playing it and i think back to it fondly. i've romanced Alistair, Zevran and Morrigan in several playthroughs but i may come bac to complete Leliana's romance as well at a later time.

Dragon age II

Dragon age 2 is my least favourite game in the franchise, i know its a polarising game where people either love it or hate it but for me it left a lot to be desired
I am glad that they introduced Varric in DA2 tho since he ended up being one of my favourite characters in the entire Dragon Age franchise, but other than him most of the characters didnt particularly stand out to me.

Dragon Age: Inquisition

★★★★

summary: great game if you're a Dragon age fan, i wouldnt reccomend it as your first entry into the franchise though

Devil may cry

as someone who isnt used to playing hack and slash games i found Dmc very enjoyable. it wasnt so hard to the point where its no longer do-able and dante has become by far one of my favourite characters ever. not my favourite Dmc gamr but a solid 4 out of 5 stars

Devil may cry

probably my second favourite dmc game, i feel like in dmc3 dante really became the character that he is today. the story, gameplay, cutscenes and weapons are all way over the top. super fun gaming experience, even for a noob like me.

Devil may cry 5

★★★★★

Dmc5 is the game that introduced me into the series, i played it when it came out and i cant say ive been more obsessed with a game franchise since. i really fell in love with all of the characters and their stories. Every playable character has their own unique fighting style and i think V was a welcome temporary addition to the cast. graphics are insanely good (sadly my pc has grown old and cant handle much of that anymore) and gameplay is beginner friendly, even if you dont want to bother too much with learning specific combos you can still have fun buttonsmashing.

Resident Evil 0

★★★

a fun, short RE game, but has some janky mechanics resident evil 0 was one of the earlier games i played since i played the franchise chronologically, i found it a fun little game at the time but i dont know if its one i would revisit multiple times due to some awkward game mechanics like the weird limited storage box situation capcom used only for this game. Rebecca and Billy are a really fun team of characters and i wish they had appearances in more games (afaik this is the only RE game billy appears in and i would love for him to return in a future game)

Resident Evil HD remaster

★★★★★

quintessential Resident Evil.
if you want to get into the RE franchise, start with this one.
this is my favourite Resident evil game, ive played it countless times to complete multiple of the challenges (no save challege, 3hr challenge etc, i've not quite got it to platinum yet but its one of the only games i would actually plan on platinuming. The puzzles are very clever, thrilling and just overall a fun horror game.

Resident Evil 4

A classic, just thinking about this game makes me want to go back and re play it again. great entry into the series if you're new to RE

This is a such a fun game, i think this was my first RE game i played and it really gets you hooked for more.
Gameplay is fun and challenging, whith lots of different challenges to replay the game when you've finished your first playthrough. ( i remember watching Dante Ravioli's speedruns on youtube, loved the one where he used only chicken eggs as weapon for a whole playthrough )
Leon is a great Protag for this game, and his banter with Ashley is pretty funny, with them having sort of a bratty sister / older brother dynamic.
I do remember struggling a bit with this game since the pc port crashed on me a couple times, not sure why that happened but i digress.
Other than that, gameplay is very fun and thrilling, with new monsters and bosses being introduced in every new region that you enter.

Resident Evil 5

★★★

i need Albert Wesker to spit on me and call me a slur this game just made me thirsty for Wesker, im sorry.

Resident Evil 6

★★

game unfinished. will come back to it later. so far kinda meh I played this game a couple years back, not realising i hadnt actually finisned it. I played Leon and Ada's route but it kinda flew past me that theres several other routes to be played. Knowing what i know now, this game is definitely a mixed bag. it did feel rushed, which is probably why i hadnt spent that much time on it and overlooked the other routes so easily. I will still play the other routes and then come back to write a more complete review of this game because its been too long and i barely remember anything of what ive played of it so far.

Resident Evil 7

★★★★

Refreshing new entry in the RE franchise

I found myself pleasantly surpised by this game. with a whole new cast of characters i was kind of sceptical of the new direction they were taking but i enjoyed this game a lot and i would even count it among some of my favourite RE games.
starting off with a whole new playstyle, this game is played through first person instead of the classic third person we're used to in most previous RE games or the fixed angle from the older games.
this didnt bother me at all but it did make me feel less close to Ethan as the main character of the game than i have for previous MCs, instead feeling more like I,

myself am the person holding the gun going throught the story

The gameplay was really enjoyable, the puzzles were nicely challenging but not so hard to the point where you have to go look up solutions on some forum online.
The story wasnt necessarily standout to me but it probably set up a good foundation to roll into RE8. [which i havent played as of this writing, its on my list though]
I will probably come back to this game and replay it when i get a new laptop since i had a really good time with it. I also played the DLC where you play as Chris (i forgot what its called) it was fun but i dont really have anything notable to say about it except wtf did they do to your face Chris.... my beautiful boy... they fckn butchered him. glad they gave him a facelift for RE8 so he's back to his normal old beefcake self.

^chris in RE5 - RE7 - RE8 ...laughing because what happened to you in 7 buddy??

Darksiders 3

★★★

the first darksiders game i played. a fun overall playing experience, fury is a fun main character and i liked her banter with the npcs. another hack and slash game which, again im not too good at but it was certainly do-able. i started replaying this game recently but playing it the second time i found myself growing brored with it fairly quickly.

spore

★★★

I played this game a lot as a kid. i always found it really fun to make my own little creatures and go on adventures with them. good game for people 13 and under but at this point its lost its luster to me.

Severed

★★★

evered is a fun little nintendo game that combines puzzle and rhythym game playstyles. its a fairly short and straightforward game but i definitely wouldnt overlook it for that reason
you play as a girl who's looking for her lost family on an abandoned island riddled with monsters. the artstyle and music give the game an eerie and unique vibe i cant say ive seen anywhere else before. definitely a must try if you like faster paced indie games.
